About us
Wuhan Institute of Technology, the former Wuhan Institute of Chemical Technology, stands at the center of “The Photoelectron Valley, Wuhan, China” in East Lake Development District of new Technology. It has two campuses and covers the land of 1527 mu consisting 640 thousands square meters of constructive area. Established inn June, 1972, the Institute, originally named Hubei Institute of Chemical Petrol Engineering, was subordinated to Hubei province. IN March, 1980, Ministry of Education determined the name is changed into Wuhan Institute of Chemical Technology; Ministry of Chemical Industry and Hubei province are the double leaders, and it relies mainly on Ministry of Chemical Industry. In 2006, the institute was given the present name. After 30 years’ constant hardworking, our institute has developed into a well-facilitated, competitive, top-quality and comprehensive university.
The institute embodies 7 key majors, 2 key labs, 1 base centre of cultural & social science, 9 project centers, all at the provincial level. 24 Master selects, 5 Doctor selects programmed and constructed by Hubei province. The seven majors, chemical equation, chemical technology, science of materials, biochemistry, chemical processing mechanism, applied chemistry, chemistry of materialism and physics, have been granted as “Chutian Scholar Majors” taught by honored professors. In addition, we are cultivating Doctors who are specialize in mineral processing, chemical processing mechanism, chemical equation and plasma physics, with the jointed efforts of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dongbei university and other universities or institutes.
The institute, in whole, possess 710 million RMB permanent assets, the teaching building and laboratory take up 350 thousand square meters of the whole campus; the institute is facilitated with 2 400-meter standard playground, 1 standard swimming pool, 52 courts for basketball, volleyball, badminton and tennis, 37 multi-media ?classroom (6991 seats in total), 7 language labs; 33 other diversified labs and 8729 instruments and devices valuing 113 million RMB are used in teaching and research programme. The library is crowned as “the prominent library” and “Collection Unit at Research level” which preserves books and all kinds of publications up to 925 thousand volumes, electrical publications 100 thousand, online publications 300 thousand and 9 types of databases.
With the eximious achievement, our university is recognized by society. The future of enrollment and job-hunting is promising and in a good momentum. The graduates are valued buy received units, the employment rate maintains firmly at 90%, the post-graduates admission rate is above 125。Looking retrospectively of our 30-year history, we have sent more than 200 thousand graduates into the society and many of them have become the backbones in different fields.
The institute has received 40 awards from it; 8 awards from National Ministry of Education and the Central Committee of League; 4 awards from The Communist Party of China Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee and 3 awards from All-China Students' Federation.
